KHULNA: Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Nibash Chandra Majhi said here yesterday the killers and masterminds of the journalist Humayun Kabir Balu murder case will be arrested very soon, reports BSS. He was speaking while receiving a memorandum at the KMP headquarters about the Balu murder case. "KMP will investigate the case jointly with CID under explosives act to unearth the clue behind the killing of the eminent journalist," he assured. The journalist leaders also demanded re-investigation into the Balu murder case. All the nine accused have been acquitted by the Khulna Speedy Trial and Tribunal in 2007 as prosecution could not prove the allegation against the criminals due to lack of evidence and flawed charge sheet. Khulna Working Journalists Unity (KWJU) handed over the memorandum to the KMP commissioner as part of their four-day programme ahead of Balu's 11th death anniversary. At least 40 journalists both from print and electronic media and president of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Kazi Aminul Haque were present. KWJU will also hand over a memorandum to Khulna deputy commissioner today to give it to the Prime Minister and State Minister for Home Affairs. A seven-hour token hunger strike will be observed at Khulna Press Club premises on June 16 and a discussion meeting will also be observed on June 27.
