2 more witnesses testify

After two month stay, a court here on Thursday recorded the testimonies of two more witnesses in the former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case. The court also fixed March 16 for the nest recording of testimonies. Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal judge Mokbul Ahsan recorded the testimonies of two people in the presence of 12 accused. Former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar and sacked Sylhet city mayor Ariful Haq Chowdhury were not were present in the court during the witness testifying due their illness. But their appointed lawyer gave the attendance to the court during the trail. A total of 15 people, including the two persons, were testified for this case. Earlier, on 6 January, 2016, the court stayed the recording of testimony as per the application of public prosecutor.  A total of 171 people will give their depositions in the sensational murder case, according to Kisur Kumar Kor, a public prosecutor of the tribunal. On September30, the tribunal also started recording testimony of former lawmaker of Habiganj-2 and plaintiff of the case Abdul Mozid Khan. Earlier on September 13, the court framed charges against BNP leaders Lutfozzaman Babar and Harris Chowdhury and 30 others in the case. On January 27, 2005, five people, including Kibria, were killed and 70 others injured in a grenade attack on a public rally of local Awami League at Baidder Bazar in Sadar upazila of Habiganj district.
