One placed 
on five-day remand

A team of DB (Detective Branch) police early yesterday arrested one person from city’s GEC circle area over the sensational murder of Chittagong Nursing College senior teacher Anjali Devi. The arrested was identified as Mohammad Raza, 48, former teacher of Patiya Al Jameya Al Islamia Madrassa and currently a state officer. The DB police produced the arrestee before the court of metropolitan magistrate Md Rahmat Ali with a 12-day remand prayer yesterday. The court granted five-day remand for the arrestee. Anjali Devi, 57, a senior teacher of Chittagong Nursing College was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants just 25 yards of her Chawkbazar residence on January 10, 2015 at around 8:30am while she was going to her workplace. Her husband Dr Rajendra Lal Chowdhury lodged a case soon after the incident.
