Stocks market yesterday finished with mixed trend in the price indices when most of the issues traded closed higher, reports BSS. DSEX, the broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended the session in green with marginal 8.16 points rise at 4443.63 when the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES closed flat in red at 1703.33 and 1077.74 respectively.
The daily trade value rose to Tk 310 crore from Sunday's Tk 300 crore and the volume increased to 8.50 crore shares from 8.28 crore of the previous session as most of the issues traded finished the session higher. Out of the traded 316 issues, 143 gained against 111 losing securities. The higher number of advancing securities drove the broader index and the daily transaction up.
Unlike some previous sessions, large-cap issues registered significant gains when 124 securities advanced among 267 traded issues of this category. Mutual funds also recovered in prices, with
11 out of 31 mutual funds finished the day up and 16 others
facing moderate loss.
The major gainers were Quasem Drycell, Nitol Insurance, Aamra Tech, Eastern Lubricant and Gemini Sea and the major losers Green Delta, Pragati Insurance, Shyampur Sugar, ISN Limited and Meghna Petroleum. BSRM Limited, Orion Pharma, Quasem Drycell, Lanka Bangla Finance and Malek Spinning were the day's most liquid issues. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also extended the loss to another session when its major CSCX index lost 14.77 points to finish at 8305.84. Among the day's traded 237 issues, only 97 closed higher against 98 losing securities when the daily trade value fell to Tk 22.93 crore from Sunday's Tk 33.26 crore and the volume declined to 70 lakh shares for 1.03 crore shares of the previous session.
