10 hurt in BCL infighting

At least 10 activists were injured in a clash between two groups of  Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus of Sylhet MC College over taking supremacy yesterday afternoon. Quoting locals, police said Hiron Mahmud Nipu and M Raihan Chowdhury, two BCL leaders in Sylhet district, want their influences on the campus for long. The clash ensued as the two groups entered the campus over their supremacy.
At one stage, supporters of the both groups equipped with local weapons attacked each other, leaving 10 people injured. Among the injured the condition of Khairul Islam Shahin and Ratan Gupta were critical. Both are the activists of Hiron Mahmud Nipu’s group. As Shahin’s health condition was deteriorated he was shifted to Dhaka after evening. On Information police rushed in and fired the several gunshots to bring the situation under control.
The injured were sent Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment. After the incident law enforcers arrested two BCL leaders in connection with the clash.
