HC bench feels embarrassed

A High Court bench yesterday felt embarrassed to hear a petition filed by sacked army official Lt Col (retd) Tareque Sayeed Mohammad seeking the scrapping of the trial proceedings against him in one of the cases filed over the Narayanganj seven-murder. The HC bench comprising Justice Md Emdadul Huq and Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan said one of the judges of the bench felt embarrassed to hear the petition and sent it back to the chief justice. However, the senior judge of the bench did not disclose the name of the judge who felt embarrassed and the reasons behind such embarrassment. Tareque Sayeed filed the writ seeking cancellation of a case filed by son-in-law of slain lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker against him. Earlier, slain Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam’s wife had filed the first case over the incident.
