Situation forced JP to join grand alliance: GM Quader

Noting that the political situation had forced Jatiya Party to join the Awami League-led grand alliance, its co-chairman GM Quader yesterday said the time for the politics of compromise is now over, reports UNB.
The JP leader came up the remarks while speaking at the biennial conference of Khulna city unit of the party as the chief guest at Jatisangha Shishu Park (United Nations Children Park) in the capital.
GM Quader also said they will soon clear their political stance before people.
Noting that the 14-party and the 20-party alliances have turned into name-only ones, he said time has come now for Jatiya Party to come out of the combine and take part in the election independently.
Presided over by Khulna city JP president Abul Hossain, the conference was addressed, among others, by party Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader and its presidium member Saidur Rahman Tepa.
Meanwhile, a group of city unit JP, led by its former general secretary Mollah Mujibur Rahman, boycotted the conference.
Former MP Abul Hossain was elected president and Tariqul Islam general secretary of the city unit at the conference.
