School teacher stabbed dead
Faridpur: A school teacher was stabbed to death at Shripur village in Saltha upazila on Thursday evening, reports UNB.
Police said Belayet Hossain Dulal Mollah, 47, son of late Mahmud Mollah, a resident of the village, was an assistant teacher of Joyjhap High School of the upazila.
Some local youths, including Liton, 25, who had an enmity with Belayet, attacked him on a road in front of his house around 5.30pm and stabbed him indiscriminately that left him critically injured, said D M Belayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Saltha Police Station.
Later, he was rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 7:15pm.
Kidnapped expatriate rescued
Comilla: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive rescued a Libya Expatriate, who was kidnapped 15 days ago, from the city’ Purana Paltan area on Thursday, reports UNB.
Mongnethothai Marma, assistant superintendent of Comilla Crime Prevention Company-2 of Rab-11, said Siyam Ahmed Manik, 27, a resident of Pandarai village of Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj district, remained missing since he had been picked up by some miscreants from Purana Paltan area 15 days ago.
The kidnappers demanded Tk 50 lakh as ransom from his family.
Siyam’s brother Bahar Uddin gave a written compliant to RAB in this regard.A team of the elite force conducted a drive at Dipman village of Daudkandi upazila in the evening and rescued him, said the ASP.
They also arrested two alleged kidnappers- Motaleb Hossain and Akhter Hossain in this connection.
Youth jailed for harassing teacher

A mobile court in Thakurgon sentenced a youth to one year rigorous imprisonment on Thursday evening for harassing a female madrassa teacher.
The convict was identified as Mintu Reza, 28, of a cluster village in Ruhea-2 union in Thakurgon sadar upazila.
Police and local sources said Mintu Reza had been harassing the madrassa teacher for a long time. At one stage, he took picture of the teacher, and vitiating the picture he posted it on the internet. Afterwards, the teacher filed a complaint to Thakurgaon sadar police station on Thursday morning.
A team of the police station arrested Mintu in connection with the case. Later, Executive Magistrate Abdul Momin gave the verdict after he was produced before the mobile court by police.
