Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s unbeaten century gave BCB North Zone a moderate lead of 192 runs against Prime Bank South Zone on the close of the third day of the fourth round encounter in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium (SKICS) Academy ground in Cox’s Bazar yesterday.
In response to North Zone’s first innings total of 296, South Zone scored 341. Later, BCB North Zone made 237-3 in 65 overs in their second innings.
Resuming the second day at 247-4, South Zone added 94 runs at the exchange of the remaining six wickets. They faced a furious bowling onslaught of Sanzamul Islam, who scalped the bulk of six wickets for 116 in 39 overs.
In reply, North Zone faced some early trouble and lost two top-order wickets just for seven runs. Together with Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Jahurul Islam handled the initial batting collapse and struck 165-run for the third wicket. Jahurul cracked a patient 135 off 74, clubbing seven fours.
Elsewhere, at the SKICS in Cox’s Bazar, the match between Walton Central Zone and Islami Bank East Zone is drafting toward a certain draw.
East Zone managed to muster 376-7 at stumps in reply to Central Zone’s first innings total of 588-8 declared.
