Managing Workplace Stress
Tips for Young Executives

Md Shadman-Al-Karim

For workers all over the world, the economy may feel like a poignant roller coaster. “Layoffs” and “budget cuts” are frequent in the workplace, and the consequence is increased fear, insecurity, and higher levels of stress. Emotions are infectious, and stress has a force on the quality of one’s relations with others. The superior you are at managing your own stress, the more you’ll optimistically affect those around you, and the less other people’s stress will pessimistically affect you.
In today’s continuously changing working condition it’s really very tough for a young executive to keep his/her cool, cope up with their work stress along with their personal stress & in the mean time give their best effort to execute the job. The working environment in today’s corporate culture has become so competitive that no one can survive long enough if they don’t put their performance high enough. It’s a sure challenge to them and with this comes the workplace stress as a bonus. But don’t be stressed at all, it’s not the end of the world. By focusing on few tips, one can easily fight back against the workplace stress.

Tip 1: Recognise warning signs of excessive stress at work
When you feel weighed down at work, you lose coolness and may become irritable or withdrawn. This can make you less fruitful and less efficient in your job, and make the work seem less pleasing. If you disregard the warning signs of work stress, they can lead to bigger problems. Beyond snooping with job performance and satisfaction, persistent or extreme stress can also lead to physical and poignant health problems.  Watch out for these signs (apathy, loss of interest in work, sleeping problems, social withdrawal) at the workplace.

Tip 2: Reduce job stress by taking care of yourself
When stress at work interferes with your capacity to perform in your job, manage your private life, or negatively impacts your health, it’s time to take action. Start by paying attention to your physical and poignant health. When your own desires are taken care of, you’re stronger and more supple to stress. The better you feel, the better prepared you’ll be to manage work stress without becoming inundated.

Tip 3: Reduce job stress by prioritizing and organising
When workplace stress threatens to overpower you, there are plain steps you can take to recover control over yourself and the situation. Your brand new ability to maintain a sense of self-discipline in a stressful state will often be well-received by coworkers, managers, and subordinates alike, which can lead to better associations at work. Here are some implications for reducing job stress by prioritising and organising your responsibilities- don’t over-commit yourself, prioritise tasks, break projects into small steps, create a balanced schedule, be willing to compromise.

Tip 4: Reduce job stress by improving emotional intelligence
Even if you’re in a situation where the environment has grown more and more stressful, you can maintain a large measure of self-discipline and self-assurance by understanding and practicing emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage and use your emotions in positive and constructive ways. When it comes to satisfaction and success at work, emotional intelligence matters just as much as intellectual ability. Emotional intelligence is about communicating with others in ways that depict people to you, overcome differences, repair offended feelings, and defuse tension and stress.

Tip 5: Reduce job stress by breaking bad habits
Many of us make work stress worse with pessimistic thoughts and behavior. If you can turn around these self-defeating behaviors, you’ll find employer-imposed stress easier to grip. Try to- resist perfectionism, flip your negative thinking and don’t try to control the uncontrollable.
While a few workplace stresses are typical, extreme stress can hinder with your efficiency and impact one’s physical and poignant health. And one’s ability to deal with it can indicate the difference between success and failure. You can’t control everything in his/her work environment, but that doesn’t mean you’re helpless—even when they’re stuck in a thorny situation. Finding ways to cope workplace stress isn’t about making huge changes or rethinking career ambitions, but rather about focusing on the one thing that’s always within your control: you.
