The Finance Ministry released a grant of Taka 70 crore for the development and training programme of the different sports disciplines including the renovation of stadiums across the country.
Badal Roy, vice-president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), informed the reporters yesterday that out of Taka 70 crore, Taka 20 crore will be provided to the different federations and National Sports Council (NSC) will spend Taka 50 crore for the renovation works of stadiums across the country.
Badal, who is also the treasurer of the NSC, explained to the reporters yesterday at the BFF office –“In fact the grant was approved for the previous pay scale year but due to delay to submit the programme and some administrative troubles we could not cash the fund. Now we will have to make it proper use within one year, I mean by January or February 2017 and we will be able to apply for another grant for next year.”
However, from the Taka 20 crore, BFF expected to have Taka 1,40,00000, while they have already chalked out their plans with the age group training.
“We have already planned to use our allocation for the purpose of training of the age group booters of Under-14 and Under-16 from grassroots.”
“In this respect we will also organise a talent hunt programme and expecting to run long term training camp, the renovation works and activities of our football academy in Sylhet BKSP will restart very soon,” said Badal Roy.
“Might be it is not enough to run all our development programmes, but it is a strong financial backing right now for us, as most of our development programmes with the age group footballers almost halted.”
Badal replying to query said that there will be strong team from NSC, who will strictly scrutiny the activities of the federations, whether the money would use up in proper way or not.
“It is the first ever a grant for the different federations for the training purposes allocated by the Finance Ministry and NSC has already formed three-member committee who will strongly observe the works of the different federations,” said Badal.
