Bangladesh has called upon the Thai authorities to provide Bangladeshi businessmen, investors and professionals in Thailand with special processing support. Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem made the request during a meeting with the Commander of Immigration Bureau of Thailand, Police Major General Supapone Arunsit in Bangkok yesterday. ‘‘Given the excellent conduct of Bangladeshi businessmen, investors and professionals in Thailand and their contributions to Thai economy, Thai Immigration Bureau may consider providing them special support for running their businesses smoothly’’, said a press release issued by the Bangladesh Embassy in Thailand quoting the Ambassador.
Ambassador Tasneem also pointed out some specific concerns on the issue of fake Thai visa provided to Bangladeshi businessmen and investors in Thailand by some unscrupulous Immigration Law Firms. Praising the contributions of Bangladeshi businesses to Thai economy, the Commander of the Thai Immigration Bureau assured the Ambassador that his office would carefully look into their visa and immigration cases and maintain closer coordination with Bangladesh Embassy in Thailand to ensure that they receive the best possible immigration processing and legal support. The Bangladesh envoy also raised the issue of visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport
holders from Bangladesh to which Police Major General Arunsit assured that Immigration authority would be ready to implement such an arrangement following consultations with concerned Thai authorities and as per the law of the land. In response to Bangladesh Ambassador’s proposal for greater institutional cooperation and exchanges between the Immigrations Authorities of the two countries, the Commander of Thai Immigration Bureau responded positively towards creating such mechanisms.
