A young girl was gang-raped by a group of men in Dakkhin Khan area of Uttara in the capital early yesterday. Five people were arrested by police for their involvement in the crime.
Officer In-charge of Dakkhin Khan Police Station Syed Lutfor Rahman told The Independent quoting the victim that the girl was lured to a house in Dakkhin Khan Muktijoddha road by her lover Abdur Rahman Swadhin on Saturday night. At around 5 in the morning yesterday, Swadhin and four others gang-raped her, the victim alleged. The house belongs to Abdur Rahman Sajib.
Later, the victim filed a case with the Dakkhin Khan Police. The girl was sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical examination and treatment. Following the filing of the case, police raided different places in Dakkhin Khan and arrested all five accused -- Abdur Rahman Swadhin, Arian Islam Kamal, Abdur Rahman Sajib, Nazmul Huda and Shawon.
