NATORE: Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif yesterday stressed the need for learning mother language Bangla and technology-based modern education to build a Sonar Bangla dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports BSS.
“Everyone must go through his or her mother tongue properly and acquire technology-based modern education to maintain world standard,” he said while inaugurating 10-day ‘Book Fair’ at Rajapur High School field in Boraigram Upazila on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.
Referring to the spirit of Amar Ekushey, the minister urged all people specially new generation to read more books on Mother Language and War of Liberation, 1971 to learn more.
He was very critical of a quarter for the distortion of country’s history in different times.
“Khandaker Mostaq Ahmed and subsequently Ziaur Rahman distorted the history of Bengal and Bangla Language. On the contrary, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government restored the past glory through presenting country’s real history,” Sherif mentioned.
“Not only that, Sheikh Hasina also upheld the image of country’s Language Movement and Liberation War heroes across the globe,” he added.
Deputy commissioners of Natore and Pabna respectively Khalilur Rahman and Rekha Rani Balo, assistant superintendent of police of Natore Shyamol Kumar Mukharjee, Iswardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shakil Mahmud and Baraigram UNO Ruhul Amin accompanied the minister on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Land Minister also distributed Tk7.53 lakh among 150 insolvent and sick freedom fighters at Ishwardi Upazila yesterday. He also distributed Fishing Ministry’s registration cards among 1810 fishermen and identity cards among 1475 others.
