Shaheed Minar, constructed near the Prerona 71 at Chuadanga Bus Stand in the district town, was inaugurated yesterday.
Saidul Karim Mintu, the mayor of Jhenidah municipality, said the municipality is implementing the construction of the Shaheed Minar at a cost of Tk 1.20 crore to show respect to the language martyrs of 1952, who sacrificed their lives to establish Bangla as the mother tongue.
 The height of the Shaheed Minar is 32 feet and the width in east-west and north-south is 47 feet and 58 feet 2 inches.
Shaon Mahmud, daughter of eminent lyrist of the Ekushey song Shaheed Altaf Mahmud, unveiled the plaque of the Shaheed Minar.
