How did you get into writing?
I had a knack towards writing from an early age. My first story was published in one of the local newspapers of Chandpur when I was in class eight. My father is a college teacher who teaches Bangla. I always had a lot of books around me and my parents always motivated to us to read and write. When I came to Dhaka and took admission in Jahangirnagar University, I took writing more seriously. I have also worked for some well known Bangla newspapers of our country.
Why is writing important to you?
Writing is very important to me because, I feel, through my writings I can give something back to the society. I really do not care how many readers I have, I write because I love to write.
Please tell us about your work routine?
When I was in university, I used to start writing at night and continue until the next morning. Now, I write after I am done taking classes. Every day, I write _ no matter if it’s one page or two _ but I write. Now before writing on any particular topic, I like to study about it by reading books about the subject.
What do you see as the biggest challenge to a writer today? Tell us your thoughts about the changes technology is bringing to books.
Today, it is very hard to become a full-time writer, unless you are very good at it. Technology has changed the way we look at the world. Today, we have the internet and the e-books, but I believe hard (printed) copies will always exist. Of course, I am pro-technology and it is a good option to pass the time when you are stuck in a jam!
What’s your future plan?
I cannot imagine myself not writing. I want to continue my writing.
