A Mymensing court yesterday awarded life imprisonment to eight persons, including a father-son duo in Nazrul Mollick murder case. The convicts were also fined Tk 5,000 each, and in case of default in payment, they would have to spend another three months in jail. The convicts are Babul Mollick, 33, Aziz Mollick, 63, his son Hira Mollick, 37, Lalu Mollick, 36, Ziarul Mollick, 29, Musa Mollick, 36, Abdul Hye Mollick, 48,  and Musa Mollick, 30, of Dhanikhola Katakhali area in Trishal upazila, court sources said. According to the case history, victim Nazrul’s younger brother Shafiqul Mollick of Dhanikhola Choupagaria was returning home after crushing paddy at a local rice mill on October 1, 2008, when Aziz Mollick and his son Hira Mollick of adjacent Dhanikhola Katakhali area asked him to lend them Tk. 7,000. When Shafiqul refused, he was beaten with sticks by Aziz and his son Hira, injuring him. Hearing the incident, Nazrul Mollick went to Aziz’s house to protest, resulting in an altercation between them as well.
