A Chapainawabganj court sent the chairman of Gomostapur upazila and BNP leader, Bairul Islam, to jail rejecting his bail prayer in an explosive case yesterday. Chapainawabganj court inspector of police Mahbub Alam said Bairul Islam surrendered to the court of a judicial magistrate in a case filed for killing the helper a truck by setting fire to the vehicle and prayed for bail. But the judge of the court Shahidul Islam rejected his prayer and sent him to jail. The truck helper --Salim -- was killed as a petrol bomb was thrown on a goods-laden truck at Nimtala Kathal in Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj on March 5, 2015. Bairul was an accused in the case. He had been absconding for a long time, the sources said.
