A Supreme Court lawyer has filed an application with the Supreme Court’s Registrar General office seeking affidavit copies of the retired Appellate Division Justice Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik that he submitted during appointment as a High Court judge. Talking to The Independent yesterday, Supreme Court Registrar General Syed Aminul Islam said, “An application has been filed. But, I am yet to accept it officially. I will take a decision on whether I will accept it or not. Now I am busy with some urgent work and I will decide on the matter later.” Advocate Julfikar Ali Zunu submitted the application seeking information of retired Justice Manik. “I have submitted the application as per the section 8 of the Information Act. I seek the affidavit copies of the retired Justice Manik, which were provided by him during his appointment,” Zunu said in his application. Later Zunu told reporters that he has sought information for taking legal action against the retired Justice. The legal arena recently saw hot debates between Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha and retired Justice Manik. They criticized each other over several issues including writing of verdict after retirement.
