90 DU Arts Faculty students get Dean’s Award
The Faculty of Arts of Dhaka University on Thursday conferred Dean's Award on 90 students of different departments under the faculty for their outstanding academic performance. DU Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the awards among the recipients at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium of the university as the chief guest. Congratulating the awardees Professor Arefin said alongside academic excellences students should achieve human qualities, including honesty, moral values sincerity and dedication. He also called upon the awardees to play due role for the country’s development. Presided over by Dean of the Arts Faculty Professor Akhtaruzzaman, the function was also addressed by renowned educationist Professor Emeritus of DU Serajul Islam Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor (academic) Professor Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Shahid Akhtar Hossain and Treasurer Professor Kamal Uddin.
Nat’l photo exhibition begins at SUST
SYLHET: A three-day national photo exhibition titled ‘Inquest Insight’ began on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Campus yesterday. Shahjalal University Photographers’ Association (SUPA) has arranged the event. The Exhibition will be continued till February 14 from 03:00pm to 08:00pm everyday.
SUST Vice-Chancellor Aminul Haque Bhuyan inaugurated the exhibition on Friday around 03:30 pm at the ground of Academic building ’D’ on the campus. A total 73 photos from two categories have been displayed in the exhibition. SUPA invited photos from the photographers across the country from December 11, 2015 to January 05 this year. A total 3479 photos were collected from across the country.
But only 55 from sole and 18 photos from Mobile category were selected for the exhibition. Zahid Hasan, Assistant Proctor, president of SUPA Nafi Sykes Sami, General Secretary Ashraful Bari Ovi, Ex-president Reza Nurtaz Jaman, were present at the inaugural program, among others.
JU first year classes begin Mar 12
SAVAR: The classes of the first year honours courses under the academic session 2015-2016 of Jahangirnagar University (JU) will begin on March 12, university sources said.
The decision was taken yesterday at a meeting of the admission committee with the university Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam in the chair.
