A Gaibandha court yesterday placed five suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on a five-day remand in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act, reports UNB. Senior Judicial Magistrate Taskinul Haque passed the order when Detective Branch of police produced them before the court seeking 10 days’ remand, said public prosecutor Shafiqul Islam Shafi. Those remanded are Sadat alias Ratan Miah, Saiful Islam, Shahid Miah, Haider Ali and Omar Faruk. Earlier on Thursday, the detectives arrested the five suspected JMB men from Bujrukh Boalia Silpopara village in Gobindaganj upazila. On a tip-off, a police team conducted a drive at the house of one Ataul Haque at the village in the morning and arrested them, police super of Gaibandha Ashraful Islam said in a press briefing on Friday morning. The plainclothes police also seized some books on jihad during the drive. Later, a case was filed against them under the Explosive Substances Act.
