Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) is organising an evening of Rabindra Sangeet with singer Ashraf Mahmud today at 6:30 pm at the IGCC’s Gulshan premises.  Ashraf Mahmud got his Bachelor of Music degree from Dhaka University. He took his training on Rabindra Sangeet from eminent Rabindra Sangeet artistes Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, late Abdul Ahad, Sadi Mohammad and Tapan Mahmud. Apart from this, he learnt classical music from Prof. Shamima Parvin and late Ustad Fazlul Haque among others. He was awarded Bangladesh Shilpakala Podak 2013 in recognition of his contribution to the field of music under Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Meherpur District. He was Secretary General for seven years at ‘Jatio Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad’ in Meherpur District.
Ashraf is Special Grade Singer of BTV, Bangladesh Betar, Masranga TV, SATV, MOHONA TV, NTV and 71TV. He is also music director in Bangladesh Television and Music Trainer, Bangladesh ShilpaKala Academy. He particiates in many musical programmes, including Bangabhaban, Bishsha Sahitya Kendra, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
