With the aim of fulfilling the citizen’s expectation for a beautiful, cleaner and planned city, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has announced that the year 2016 will be the ‘year of cleanliness’ for Dhaka city. However, in order to present a cleaner city to the citizens of Dhaka, an awareness building event titled ‘Pransokha Dhaka’ will be held this Valentine’s Day on February 14 at the capital’s Shahbagh intersection as a part of the execution of the DSCC’s announcement.
Initiated by DSCC, in association with Channel i and advertising agency Matra, the event is set to kick off at 10 am and will continue till 5:30 pm. The special event will feature speeches from the veterans, exhibition on the heritage of Dhaka, arrangement for ‘Dhakaiya’ and performance of folk dance and poetry recital. In addition, a special concert with love songs will be held, where prominent artistes and band troupes like Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, James, Joler Gaan and others will perform.
To make the formal announcement regarding the event, a press conference was held yesterday at the premises of Channel i . Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon announced the activities that will take place at the event and urged the residents of Dhaka to attend. Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagor, Managing Partner of Matra Afzal Hossain and Sanaul Arefin were present during the press conference. Channel i will telecast some parts of the event live on February 14.
