Students protest move
to grab college land

Students of Manikganj Government Mahila College formed a human chain at Manikganj Press Club premises yesterday protesting a move by a vested quarter to grab the college. College sources said Probir Kumer Chowdhury and his brother Bikash Chowdhury of Gongadhorpotty in the town are trying to grab 281 decimals of land and  properties, owned by the college, by making fake ownership document. Probir and Bikash filed a case at the Manikganj ‘Arpito Sampatty Prottarpon Tribunal’ in 2012 to claim the 281 decimals of lands of the college.  The tribunal gave verdict in favour of them on June 22 in 2015.  However, Manikganj deputy commissioner appealed against the verdict at the district and sessions judge’s court on June 25, 2015. Founder of the college Mofizul Islam Khan Kamal said the land ownership certificate that Probir and Bikash submitted at the tribunal is fake. They have secured the land ownership certificate from a ward councillor of Manikganj municipality by giving false information. However, the councillor later requested to the mayor to cancel the certificate, he said.
