University Grant Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof. Abdul Mannan said there are 26.1 per cent educated unemployed youths in Bangladesh. “In this era of competitiveness these youths must turn themselves into skilled manpower,” he said while speaking at a fresher’s reception at the Moualana Bhashani University of Science and Technology in Tangail yesterday.
He reminded those who admitted into the first year at the university that their educational expenses would be met from the people’s tax money.  
 The UGC chairman also advised them to know the history of liberation war. “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani are ingrained in the soil of the country,” he said.
 The function was presided over by VC Prof Ala Uddin. Among others Prof. Md. Sirajul Islam, Prof. Md. Khademul Islam, Prof. Md. Motior Rahman and students Sadia Ishrat and Sumaiya Parvin spoke on the occasion.
