Two crushed under train
NARAYANGANJ: Two garment workers were killed and four others injured as a train rammed into them at a level crossing at Fatullah in Sadar upazila yesterday morning. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. Witnesses said the workers of different garment factories, were crushed under the wheels of a running train while crossing the Dhaka-Narayanganj rail line on their way to workplace. Sub-inspector of Fatullah Model Police Station Mohammad Jinnah confirmed the death.
98 held in special drives in Ctg
CHITTAGONG: Police in overnight special drives arrested 98 people, including four activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, from different Upazilas of Chittagong district on Wednesday night. Police also recovered a pipe gun and 40 litres of wine from Satkania Upazila of the district during the drives. Mohammad Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district confirmed the matter.

1 held with 500 yaba tablets
Chittagong: Police arrested a person along with 500 yaba from capital’s Karanphuli bridge area under Bakalia Police Station early yesterday. The arrestee was identified as Belal Hossain, 30.
Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of the police station, said acting on tip-off, a team of police searched a Dhaka bound bus of ‘Shyamali Paribahan’ in Karnaphuli bridge area and nabbed Belal long with 500 yaba tablets.
