Madrasha principal sued for taking bribe
Principal of Gobindapur Alim Madrasha has been sued for allegedly taking bribe from teachers during the time of their recruitment. Principal Moulana Hafizur Rahman had allegedly taken Tk 30 lakhs from the teachers for their appointments. Younus Ali, member of the madrasha governing body (MGB), has filed a case with Tangail District Judge’s Court against the principal. Besides, a complaint has been lodged with DG of Secondary and Higher Education against the illegal act of the principal. Sources said the principal invited applications for appointment of a lecturer of Arabic and nine assistant teachers against 10 posts in April. The advertisement was published in a local daily. It is alleged that the principal in connivance with the governing body chairman Md Younus Ali Master realised Tk 30 lakhs from the aspirant candidates in exchange for appointment. It is alleged that four appointments have been given forging the signatures of ex-principal Md Abdus Satter. The issue of appointment of teachers has never been discussed at a governing body meeting. The appointment procedures were not followed as per the government rules. The principal realised the money from the candidates in the name of donation for the development of the madrasha. But the amount was not deposited to the madrasha fund. Younus Ali lodged the case with the court and sent a complaint to the DG of Secondary and Higher education seeking cancellation of illegal appointments and to take measures against the principal. When contacted Moulana Hafizur Rahman, Principal of the madrasha, denied the charge brought against him.
