A woman was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband at Panchghariakandi in Munshiganj town early yesterday. The deceased was Mariam Akter Nishi, 18, wife of Al Amin of the area. Police sources said Al Amin married Nishi, daughter of Akter Hossain of Ganakpara village in the town, three years ago. They have a one-year-old daughter. Amin beat Nishi following an altercation over family feud on Wednesday night. At one stage, he strangulated Nishi to death in the dead of night, sources added. According to locals, Al Amin had an extra marital relationship that created disturbances in their conjugal life. Police recovered the body and sent it to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy yesterday morning. Police also arrested Fatema Begum, mother-in-law of Nishi, while Amin managed to flee the scene. The deceased’s mother Shefali Begum filed a case with the police.
