A sculpture marking the International Mother Language Day has been placed at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza in front of the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York City of the United States, reports UNB. Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh Mission to the UN Masud Bin Momen unveiled the sculpture, said a press release. Inaugurating the sculpture, Momen said a new chapter in the heritage of Bangla culture has been written by placing the sculpture in front of the UN headquarters. Among others, regional representative of the Executive Chamber of the Governor of New York Haresh K Parekh, Special Representative of the office of New York City Scott Stringer, Aliya Latif, Special representative from the Office of New York Mayor’s Hanif Yazdi, and Sherill Kazan from the World Council of Peoples for the United Nations were present at the inauguration. The sculpture, designed by Khurshid Saleem and prepared by Mrinal Haque, will have a month-long stay at the plaza.
