Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Jhenidah yesterday. In Mymensingh, two people, including a female SSC examinee, were killed and 16 others injured in separate road crashes in Haluaghat and Bhaluka upaizlas. An ethnic girl identified as Merina Nokrek, 15, daughter of Ganak Majhi of Pubo Gubrakura village in Haluaghat, was killed when her scarf got entwined with the wheel of a human hauler on her way to home at Dasharpar area in Haluaghat at around 1.30 pm. The victim was an SSC examinee from Haluaghat Model High School, said Abdul Haque, officer-in-charge of Haluaghat police. In another accident, a bus driver was killed and at 16 others injured when the driver lost control over the steering and fell into a ditch at Mehrabari on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhaluka upazila at around 12.00 pm. The victim was identified as Babu Miah, 28, hailing from Sreebordi of Sherpur district. Of the injured, four have been shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while others admitted at Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, said sub-inspector of Bhurabuda highway police. In Jhenidah, Anik, 24, a bicyclist hailing from Charkhazura village in sadar upazila, was killed near Jhenidah Cadet College on Jhenidah-Kushtia highway in the upazila as a bus hit his bicycle at about 9 am, said Jhenidah sadar police officer-in-charge Haasn Hafizur Rahman.
