Police arrested four Shibir leaders and activists from different parts of Satkania upazila for their alleged attempt to instigate religious fanaticism by tearing pages of the holy Quran, reports UNB. District police super AKM Hafiz Akhter said Shibir president of Satkania upazila unit (east) Raihan Uddin Muhammad Asad Ullah, Dhemsa union unit president Riyadul Islam Niloy, Chittagong district (south) unit Shibir activists Aminul Islam Tipu and M Arman have been detained from different areas of Satkania upazila conducting separate drives from January 21 to January 23. Of them, Riadul and Raihan confessed to their involvement in the crime to the court of Judicial Magistrate Shiplu Kumar Dey on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, claimed Hafiz. According to Riadul’ statement, the police super said, Raihan and other Shibir men held a secret meeting at a mosque in Indra Dighirpar of Satkania on January 9. Later, they got divided into separate groups and tore up the pages of the holy Quran in different mosques of Satkania and Lohagorah upazilas early in the morning of January 10, he said.
