Under the theme ‘Kabita Maitrir, Kabita Shantir’, the ‘30th Jatiya Kabita Utsab’ (National Poetry Festival) will be held on February 1 and 2 on the Central Library premises of Dhaka University (DU) at Shahbag in the city.
Presided over by Jatiya Kabita Parishad president Muhammad Samad, noted Poet Syed Shamsul Haq will inaugurate the festival as chief guest.
Organised by Jatiya Kabita Parishad, the festival will comprise poetry recitation and several seminars, among other events, revealed Tarik Sujat, secretary of the Jatiya Kabita Parishad at a press conference held at TSC of DU on Friday morning. Poet Habibullah Shirazi, Anowara Syed Haque and Kazi Rozi were, among others, present at the event.
For the last 29 years, poets from Australia and the US and different countries in South and Southeast Asia as well as Europe have been taking part in the festival and making the programme grander. Once again, they have invited poets from different countries to participate in the programme, the organisers informed.
