Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) is organising an evening of Hindustani Classical Music and Nazrul Sangeet by Dr. Leena Taposi Khan today at IGCC’s Gulshan premises. Dr. Mohoshsina Akter Khanom, mostly known as Leena Taposi Khan, is an ICCR alumni who has completed her Bachelor and Masters in Music fromVisva Bharati University, Shantiniketon, India and later completed her Ph.D from University of Dhaka. She also trained under two renowned singers, Dr. Mohan Singh and Khalid Hossain. She has been in the teaching profession for long decades. Presently she is the Chairman of Department of Music, University of Dhaka. She got trained under renowned singers like Shri Dhirendra Chandra Mitra, Pandit D. T. Joshi and others.
Dr. Leena has received several awards such as ‘Nazrul Award’ in 2014 from Indian Nazrul Academy; Dhaka Business and Professional Women’s Club award, 2011; Media Journalist Forum of Bangladesh in 2010; Rongdhonu Academy award in 1987 and others.
She had performed at home and abroad, such as North American Nazrul Conference in 2008, Baldwin-Wallace College, USA in 2005, Banga Shammelon, USA in 2001 and many others programme organised by Asiatic Society, Dhaka
Dr. Leena also published several literary works such as ‘Use of Raga in Nazrul Song’ from Nazrul Institute, Dhaka in 2011 , ‘The Classification of Nazrul Songs & Some Issues’, from Nazrul Institute, Dhaka in 2010. She has released six music CD’s one video CD till date.
