A three-week long solo painting exhibition titled ‘Reflections of Nature and Life’ by Gulshan Hossain will begin today at the Athena Gallery of Fine Arts. Managing Director and CEO of Mutual Trust Bank Limited Anis A Khan will inaugurate the exhibition as chief guest today at 5:30pm at the gallery premises while Chairman of Bangladesh Heritage Foundation & National Security Waliur Rahman will be present as special guest and eminent artist Professor Rafiqun Nabi as guest of honour.
This is the 17th solo exhibition of the artist. In the exhibition, artist will exhibit a number of 55 artworks, which she paints by using acrylic, oil colour and mix media. Gulshan Hossain obtained her MFA degree in painting and drawing from Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, UK, under Professor Beth Harland in 2008. She got her MA degree in Political Science, University of Dhaka in1987 and RFA degree in painting and drawing from UODA, Dhaka in 2006. She has had 16 solo exhibitions in UK, Belgium, India and Bangladesh.  She has participated in numerous group shows in Australia, Egypt, USA, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, UK, UAE, Iran, Sri Lanka, Canada, which included numerous Asian Art Biennials such as 10th Cairo Biennial, Egypt, Iran Biennial, Emaar International Art Symposium, Dubai, Sharjah Biennial, UAE and numerous National Exhibitions in Dhaka, Bangladesh including Int’l Art Festival in Azerbaijan and International Art Symposiums in France, Sri Lanka, USA and Russia.
She also received ‘Grand Award’ and ‘Star of the Symposium’ at an Int’l Art Symposium, Russia in 2012 organised by UNESCO, Highest auction Award in France in 2010, ‘Best in Class’ UK, 2008, The Honourable Mention Award in Sharjah Biennial, UAE in 2005, ‘Achievement Award’ from UODA, Dhaka in 2004. Two 2nd prize in Florida, USA, in 2003 and 2001.
Presently, Gulshan is engaged as an Assistant Professor of MFA Department of Painting at University of Development Alternative, Dhaka.
The exhibition will remain open to all everyday from 10am to 8pm until February 6.
