Pneumonia and other cold-related diseases have broken out in Bhola claiming one life on Thursday. Sources said Bhola Sadar Hospital said Arian, 6, son of Shobuj of Borhan uddin upazila died from pneumonia at the hospital on Thursday noon. Many of the pneumonia patients were treated and released from the hospital; but 25 patients suffering from cold-related diseases are still being treated at the hospital, they said. The sources said most of patients are poor elderly persons and children. The district has been hit by severe cold and chilly weather over the past one week affecting a large number of people. Most of the time people are keeping in-doors as sun is hardly visible intensifying the cold. Over 140 pneumonia patients, in-cluding children and old people were treated at Bhola sadar hospital during the period. Dr Farid Ahamed, Civil Surgeon of Bhola, said there are sufficient medicines in the hospital to treat pneumonia patients.
