AL candidate alleges rigging in election result

Awami League nominated mayor candidate in Chapainawabganj municipality Samiul Hoque Liton alleged that the concerned returning officer defeated him by manipulating the actual result.
He alleged this in a post polls public meeting yesterday afternoon.
Chapainawabganj district unit of Awami League arranged the meeting with the president of the municipality unit of AL Iqbal Mahmud Khan Khanna in the chair.
Among others, president of district AL Moinuddin Mondal and secretary of the same Abdul Wadud MP spoke on the occasion.
Liton said he was defeated through a blue print and he would go on a legal fight taking people with him.
He argued that not a single councilor candidate of Jamaat won the polls but the mayor candidate was declared winner.
He said he would meet the prime minister regarding this and he expressed his optimism that he would be the mayor.
When the law maker Abdul Wadud came to the microphone for delivering his speech, some of the AL men left the place shouting against him.
Abdul Wadud said, the result might have been manipulated with some body's signal and we will win through legal process.
This is to be mentioned that independent candidate and Jamaat leader Nazrul Islam got 31,504 votes and AL candidate Samiul Hoque Liton got 30,504 votes.
