Moulana Bhashani University of Science and Technology has been declared closed, with all classes and examinations suspended till January 13, after cracks appeared on the wall of a residential hall University Vice-Chancellor Ala Uddin said students of Shaheed Jahanara Imam hall became panic stricken after cracks appeared on the wall of the dormitory. An emergency meeting with teachers was held where it was decided to suspend the classes and examinations till January 13. The next decision will be taken after experts from BUET examine the building, Ala Uddin added. The VC visited the hall on Saturday. Female students of the hall said that cracks appeared on the wall following Monday’s earthquake that had its epicenter in Manipur of India. They also claimed that the cracks are getting more pronounced. Meanwhile, university Chief Engineer Abu Taleb said the main structure of the hall building has not been damaged and the cracks that appeared will not cause any harm.
