Govt to recruit 50,694 more policemen: Asaduzzaman
State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday told the parliament that the incumbent government has a plan to recruit more 50,694 police personnel, including 694 naval police, within a very shortest possible time, reports BSS. “The ratio between police personnel and population in the country is not sufficient. So the country needs more manpower in police department to ensure better service to the citizens,” he said while replying to a question of opposition bench member Rahim Ullah of Feni-3 during the question and answer session in the parliament. The minister, replying to another query of treasury bench member Lutfa Taher, said members of police are also showing outstanding performances in the UN peacekeeping missions. “A total 1239 policemen are serving with the peacekeeping missions in different countries. Being the number one troops contributing country Bangladesh is also sending female police to the missions,” he added.
