Daylong event to celebrate rainy season in city June 12
To celebrate the upcoming rainy season and also to create awareness among the masses on reserving rain water during rainy season, international organisation Water Aid and advertising agency Grey will organise a day-long cultural programme titled ‘Ey Barshay’ on June 12 at the Bangla Academy premises in the city. The daylong event feature theatre play, song and dance, film screening, painting, kabadi, puppet show, seminar on rainy season, poetry recitation and photography exhibition.
The festivities of the event will include performances from Bappa Majumder and Friends, Jewel and Friends, Joler Gaan, Chirkut, Topu, Shahed, Minar Rahman, Shandhi, Swagata, Sabhyata, Ahmed Hasan Sunny, Gachh and Samudra. The dance performance will be presented by dance troupe Dhriti Nartanalay, puppet show by Jal Putul, mime show by Chittagong based troupe Natua. Moreover, Shaon, Parash and Saiful from the popular show ‘Mirakkel’ will also participate in the day-long festivities.
To note, it has been observed that as days go by, the water shortage crisis in Bangladesh is increasing at an alarming rate. To provide better knowledge and spread useful information on the right procedures to reserve rain water, this awareness-building event has been organised.
