The rookies of Bangladesh national team are unfazed by the challenges lied ahead as the series against Zimbabwe is seen as the platform to make World T20 position stronger.
Pressure will be immense on both Nurul Hasan Sohan and Abu Haider Rony after their tremendous performance in the BPL. Since the new players like Mustafizur Rahman, Soumya Sarkar and other showed excellent performance as soon as their arrival into the international circuit, the expectation will be high on  both of the guys to deliver like them.
In addition, there will be another pressure as the place of World Cup team will be up for grab while the selectors formed an experimental team for the series against Zimbabwe to settle a proper combination for the World T20.
“I know the series will provide the opportunity to make a place in the World T20 team. I am aware of it but it is not any pressure for me, I am rather motivated by this,” said Abu Haider Rony, a young fast bowler who hogged the headline in the last BPL.
“I have played good cricket in BPL. The target is simple: I just want to replicate that performance.”
Sohan however proved his mettle to score quickly. He played in different positions in the last BPL according to the needs of the team but he wasn’t bothered by it. He played his shots with utmost ease in any position.
“I love to take the challenge. I have no problem to bat anywhere in anytime. I just back my natural instinct and play according to the situation and the demand of the team,” said Hasan who is also a wicketkeeper.
“To me, team comes first always. If just one run made by me wins the match, I am happy.”
Both of the guys are almost certain to play in the first XI. However both have the same goal: to cement the place first.
“I don’t know whether the team managements will consider me but if I get the chance, I’ll try to grab it with both hands. In fact everyone tries to utilise the opportunity, presented to him. I am no different,” said Haider, who seemed more matured than his age.
Haider took the country’s cricket fraternity by storm claiming 22 wickets in BPL, second only to Kevon Kooper’s 23. He has the goal to establish him as bowling all-rounder.
“Whenever I get chance, I do batting practice. Batting is much needed in this age. If the lower order batsmen chipped in with some runs, it works well for the team. So I’ll try to hone my skill in batting. I want to contribute for the team’s cause as much as it is possible,” Haider who idolised Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir and Australian Mitchel Johnson, pointed out.
Sohan however doesn’t give the World T20 matter a thought at the moment.
“I am just thinking about the Zimbabwe series. It’s a great platform to have a great preparation for the Asia Cup and World Twenty20. The matter of rankings was also involved with the series.”
“However I’ll try to give my best if I get the chance in the team. But I am not thinking about World T20. I am just thinking about this series only,” he said.
