Two people were killed and five others, including a woman. were injured as some criminals hurled hand bombs towards them following enmity over land at Gangadashpur in Jibannagar upazila on Monday evening, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as M Ali alias Salam, 23 and Shahabuddin of the same village.
Locals said some landless people had been living on a piece of land that is about 116 bighas in size since the liberation war.
Four years ago, one Abdul High Tuku of Drashana and some local people claimed the ownership of the land.
Following the issue, several clashes took place at different times since then.
On Monday evening, some criminals hurled 4 to 5 bombs towards some villagers while they were having chats at a tea stall around 6 pm, leaving Salam dead on the spot and six others injured.
Officer-in-charge of Jibannagar police station Humayan Kabir said the injured were admitted to the upazila health complex first.
Later, they were shifted to Jessore Hospital where Shahabuddin succumbed to his injuries on Monday night.
