A Chittagong court here yesterday sentenced three men to life terms imprisonment in two separate cases for raping two girls in the city. The court of Rezaul Karim of Children and Women Repression Prevention Court-1 handed down the two verdicts. Court sources said that Nurul Alam, 19, a resident of Baraipara under Chandgoan police station area raped a six years old girl on August 27, 2013.  “The court sentenced him to life term imprisonment and fined Tk50, 000, said Jesmin Akhter, Public Prosecutor of the tribunal.  “At the day of incident at around 2:30pm, Nurul Alam called the victim to play mobile game in his room. Giving the opportunity to play game in mobile at one stage Alam forcibly raped the minor girl. Came out from the room of Alam, the girl informed the incident to her mother. On that day the victim’s mother filed a case with Chandgoan police station accusing Nurul Alam and police arrested him,” added Jesmin Akhter. “Now Alam is behind the bar,” added Jesmin.  On November 30, 2013 police submitted the chargesheet to the court indicted the accused and the court framed the charge on February 17, 2014. After examining three witnesses out of 15 the court handed down the verdict, said Jesmin.
The same court also yesterday sentenced two men two times life term imprisonment for raping a girl picked up from Banshkhali area and for raping confined in a Hotel in Chittagong in 2010 and the court fined them Tk150, 000 as well. The convicted were identified as Mamunur Rashid, 27, son of Abdullah, and Delowar Hossain, 27, son of Zamal, both of them resident of Banshkhali Upazila of the district.  “They are absconding now. On October 20, 2010 at around 6pm Mamun and Delowar forcibly picked up the girl from Bailgoan village of Banskhali. Then they brought the girl in Chittagong, confining in the hotel the duo raped the girl whole night one after another,” said Jesmin Akhter, the public prosecutor.
