DU invites applications for PhD
Dhaka University has invited applications in designated forms from interested candidates for enrolment in Ph.D programme in academic year 2015-16. Application forms could be collected from room number 323 of the registrar's office, said a DU press release yesterday.
To collect admission forms, a candidate will have to show certificate of M.Phil. or all original mark certificates along with the receipt of depositing Taka 1,000 at TSC branch of Janata Bank.
After filling properly, the applications would have to be submitted at the office of the chairman/ director of concerned department or institute.
Those who obtained bachelor (honours) and masters degree from any private university of the country would not be eligible for enrolment in Ph.D programme directly.
They will have to complete M.Phil. at DU before enrolment in Ph.D. programme.

New robot exhibited at SUST

SYLHET: The first social interaction robot of the country has been exhibited at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
‘ROBO SUST’, a science based organisation of  the university, exhibited  the robot at M Wazed  Miah Institute of  Information and Communication (IICT) building of the university around 12:30pm yesterday.
A total 11 member of the organisation produced the robot named ‘RIBO’ within one month. Renowned writer and head of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department Prof Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Professor Yasmeen Haque of physics department, and members of the ‘ROBO SUST’ were present during the exhibition.
The robot ‘RIBO’ can speak Bengali, and able to move hands and eyes ups and down and can dance.  It also gives response to call. ‘ROBO SUST’ members also informed that they are working for its more development.
Prof Zafar Iqbal appreciated the students and said, “If we encourage our students, they will do better in future. They are doing this kind of work as part of their extra-curriculum activities”. The robot ‘RIBO’, made at a cost of more than Tk one lakh. Bangladesh Science Fiction Society has assisted the students by giving Tk one lakh for this project.
 

 

 

SUST to hold orientation Jan 10

The orientation programme for the newly admitted students in first year honours courses at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) under the academic year 2015-16 will be held on January 10 at campus.
President of the Admission Committee-2015 Professor Narayan Saha confirmed this.
He said the programme will begin at university handball ground at 10am where Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is expected to attend as chief guest.
