The once popular band Winning, who captivated the hearts and minds of the listeners during the 90’s, is back again on the music scene after 20 long years with a new album titled ‘Bohu Durey’. The cover of the new album was unveiled at a ceremony on Friday at the Bengal Lounge of Dhaka Club in the capital’s Shahbag area.
Band members Zaman Ali Chandan (vocal and guitar), Md Shamsun Noor Ranjan (drums and vocal) SM Mashiur Rahman Shelly (bass), Biplob Ashraf (keyboard) were present at the album launching ceremony along with eminent personalities of the music scene such as Tapan Chowdhury, Fuad Naser Babu, Labu Rahman, Ashiquzzaman Tulu, Labib Mahmud, among others.
The album consists of 12 tracks.
Band member Ranjan shared his thoughts regarding the album, “The age of the band is 33. After many years from starting our journey, we went very far, far away from friends, far away from the country and far away from music. But even then, we reminisce about the old times and old memories. That is why the name of the album is ‘Bohu Durey’.”
Zaman Ali Chandan spoke about the album’s recording, “To start the work for the album, several trips had to be made in Dhaka. The mixing and mastering work for the album has been done in a studio in Canada.”
Popular singer Tapan Chowdhury said about the band, “Even though the band members of Winning have been living abroad for many years, they are still in the hearts and minds of the innumerable music lovers of the country. I am delighted to see all my favourite people together again in the same place.”
To note, Winning released their first self titled album ‘Winning’ in 1991 and the second one in 1995 titled ‘Ochena Shohor’. l
