Denmark, Norway, Sweden common chancery to be inaugurated this month

A single facility housing three Nordic embassies of Denmark, Norway and Sweden will be formally inaugurated this month. The embassies of the three countries were moved to Bay's Edgewater Building at Gulshan in the capital in July, diplomatic sources informed.  The countries have joint chancery in other countries in the world including in Germany, they said. This is the second such common chancery in Bangladesh after Germany and France shifted their embassies in the same building last year. About the objectives of the common chancery building, the sources said that since Denmark, Norway and Sweden have very much in common in terms of languages, values, culture and priorities in Bangladesh, it will be easier for these nations to work more closely.
Together, these countries are expected to do more for Bangladesh, they said, adding that the Nordic countries are focusing on green and sustainable growth in Bangladesh. Nordic countries are said to be frontrunners in the areas of green technologies, innovation, and a sustainable approach to business, and Bangladesh can benefit from it, they said. Denmark, Sweden and Norway were among the first countries to recognise Bangladesh.
