Begum Rokeya University gets new registrar
RANGPUR: Muhammad Ibrahim Kabeer has joined as new Registrar of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).
Kabeer joined his new post by submitting his joining letter to Vice-chancellor of the university AKM Nurun Nabi on Wednesday afternoon, a press release said yesterday.
Muhammad Ibrahim Kabeer, a valiant freedom fighter, joined his new post at BRUR just after retiring as Director (Finance & Accounts Division) from the University Grants Commission (UGC). The newly appointed registrar today took charges of his office replacing Registrar (current charge) of the university Morshed Ul Alam Rony.
Officials and employees of the university congratulated the newly appointed Registrar at office after he assumed office. Kabeer was born in Dhanpur village under Sadar Dakshin upazila in Comilla district. After completing his MM and MBA degrees, he began his career through joining at Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARSO) as Accounts Officer on March 21 in 1980. Later, he joined at the UGC as Assistant Director on May 10 in 1984 where served for the last 31 years at a stretch with the last 16 years as Director (Finance & Accounts Division), the press release added.
Conference on biomedical research held at JU
SAVAR: A conference on contemporary biomedical research in Bangladesh was held at seminar room of Jahir Raihan auditorium on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus here on Wednesday.
Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of JU Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department organized the conference while JU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam inaugurated it as the chief guest. The JU VC said that such university-wide conference should contribute in improving preventive and curative health care management for Bangladeshi population in a comprehensive and effective way.
She also said that this conference intends to give a guideline for the researchers, decision makers and stakeholders in planning and understanding the innovative ideas of biomedical research.Professor of Microbiology department of Dhaka University Dr M Anwar Hossain presented keynote at the inaugural session of conference while Professor of DU Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology department Sharif Akhteruzzaman delivered speech in the scientific session. Presided over by the chairman of JU Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department Professor Dr Sabir Hossain, JU Pro-VC Professor Dr Abul Hossain, Director of the project Dr Garanga Chandra Muhanta, ndc, Dean of JU Biological Sciences faculty Professor Dr Abdul Jabber Hawlader, Professor Dr SM Badier Rahman, Professor Dr M Shahadat Hossain, Professor Dr Nazibur Rahman, Dr Nurul Kabir, Dr Farha Matin Juliana, Dr M Mesah Uddin Ansary and Project Manager Professor Dr Sohel Ahmed addressed the function among others.
