Festivity marks textbook distribution in districts

School and madrasa students celebrated the New Year with new text books in their hands yesterday across the country, thanks to the government that has made them available at the outset of the academic session.
 In Jhenidah, the text books were distributed among the students at a simple ceremony at the Jhenidah old DC court premises yesterday morning.
A total of  20,34,317 books were distributed among secondary-level students, 272,687 among madrashsh students, 148,052s among Ebtedayee madrasa students and 27,000 books among SSC and vocational students in the district.
Presided over by the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) revenue Abdur Raauf Mandal, ADC general Abu Saleh Mahiuddin Khan attended the function as chief guest. Upazila Nirbahi officer of Jhenidah Sadar Julkar Nayan, District Education Officer Amjad Hossain and district Primary Education Officer Ataur Rahman attended as special guests attended the programme.
In Pirojpur, new textbooks were distributed among the students at the local Government Karimunnesa  Primary and Secondary School premises yesyerday at about 11 am. AKMA Awal, member of parliament (MP)  from Pirojpur constituency-1, distributed the books  as chief guest.
The function was held with AKM Shamemul Haque Siddiki, deputy commissioner of Pirojpur in the chair.
According to district primary education office (DPEO) and district education office (DEO), 26, 12, 834 books were distributed among the primary and secondary level students.
Of them, 12,10,155 books were given to secondary level studets, 6,63,750 to  primary students, 4,70,911 to  Dakhil and, 2,42,568 to Ebtedai level madrasa students and 25,450 books to vocational students.
In Tangail, the text book distribution was formally inaugurated at Tangail Model Government Primary School.
District primary education officer Enamul Hoque said about 17 lakh books have been distributed among the students of 1720 educational institutions in 12 upazilas of the district.
In Feni, deputy commissioner Humyun Kabir formally inaugurated the festival yesterday through distribution of new set  of textbook  at  the Feni Government Primary School.
Feni district primary education officer said at primary level, nine lakh textbooks  and at higher secondary level 25.25 lakh books were distributed.  In  Laximpur, 18 lakh text books were given to the students of schools in five upazilas.
In Jamalpur, Chairman of Parliamen-tary Standing Committee of Ministry of Land, Rezaul Karim Hira formally inaugurated the book distribution at the Government Girls High School in the town yesterday.
