Workshop on universal health coverage held
A workshop on ‘Universal Health Coverage (UHC)’ was held on Wednesday at Dr Milton Hall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital.
The BSMMU organised the workshop to emphasize the aim of UHC to ensure health facilities to all at minimum costs, said a press release.
Under UHC people are expected to have access to essential quality health care services without facing any financial burden. The speakers, in this regards, urged all concerned people including doctors and nurses to be more sincere in their duties.
Additional secretary of health ministry Asadul Islam was present as the chief guest while BSMMU Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, Pro-VC (education) Prof Dr M Ruhul Amin Mia, Pro-VC (Research) Prof Dr M Shahidullah Sikder and Pro-VC (administration) Prof Dr M Sharfuddin Ahmed spoke.
DU zoology dept holds workshop
A day-long workshop on ‘Teachers for Tigers’ organised by the Higher
Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of the Department of Zoology of Dhaka University (DU) was held at Udayan Uchcha Madhyamik Bidyalaya in the capital yesterday.
DU Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. Principal of Udayan Uchcha Madhyamik Bidyalaya Dr Umme Salema Begum presided over the inaugural function while Sub-project Manager of HEQEP Gulshan Ara Latifa delivered welcome speech. Chairman of the Department of Zoology of DU Anwarul Islam moderated the programme.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the teachers to play an effective role for creating awareness on wildlife conservation among the students. He said we have to preserve tigers for conservation of biodiversity as well as the Sundarbans.
It may be mentioned that a total of 100 teachers from school and college sections of Udayan Uchcha Madhyamik Bidyalaya participated in the workshop.
Donation to Liberation War Museum
The authorities of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) have donated Tk 10 lakh to the construction fund of Liberation War Museum on Tuesday, says a press release.
Shafique Ahmed Siddique, chairman of BUBT Trust and Md Abu Saleh, vice-chancellor of BUBT, handed over the cheque to Mofidul Huque, one of the Trustees of Liberation War Museum, at Segunbagicha in the capital. Mofidul Huque, Trustee of Liberation War Museum, thanked BUBT authority for being the first private university to donate the museum. He hoped that this donation would enhance the involvement of the students of private universities with Liberation War Museum.
ABM Abul Quashem, member of BUBT Trust and AHM Azmal Hossain, joint registrar with other officials of BUBT, member secretary with other Trustees of Liberation War Museum Trust, were present on the occasion.
