An unidentified suspected cattle thief, aged about 25 years, was beaten to death and another injured by local people at Mathurapur village in sadar upzila on Wednesday night.  According to witnesses, local people saw a group of robbers trying to steal cattle from a house in Mathurapur village. They caught two of them while two others managed to flee. People gave them a severe beating killing one on the spot and injuring another. They informed the matter to police yesterday morning. SI Shahidul Islam rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical Collage Hospital morgue for autopsy.
