Stern action against unfit vehicles: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday said that the government will soon take harsh steps against the illegal and unfit vehicles. "Time has come to take strict measures against those. In past, drives were conducted against those but the unfit vehicles make a comeback. Now it’s time to take permanent measures", Quader said. He was speaking at the new product launching ceremony of Innovative Motors, a sister organisation of Sohag Group in the capital. Innovative Motors brought new models of AC, non-AC buses and trucks from world famous Swedish Scania brand. Quader said, unfit vehicles are not only a source of accidents and pollutants but also it hampers the beauty of the road as well as the city.
"We will try to remove these unfit vehicles and try to launch new modern vehicles", he said. He lauded Sohag's group initiative to bring modern and more safe vehicles like Scania in Bangladesh.
During the ceremony, Nabil Paribahan and Petridec LPG were handed over the keys of the new vehicles from Scania which they ordered earlier.
Aslamul Haque, lawmaker from Dhaka-14 constituency, Johan Frisell, Swedish ambassador to Bangladesh and Faruq Talukder Sohel,
managing director of Innovative Motors and Sohag group were also present at the occassions.
